Video: Apple iPod introduction (part 1)

(Tuesday, October 23, 2001) — Apple Computer today unveiled iPod – a $399 portable digital music player that can store up to 1,000 songs.

It is the company’s first foray outside its core business for eight years and is about the size of a deck of cards.

“We think this is a major, major breakthrough,” said Apple chief executive Steve Jobs.
