George Washington Bridge dedicated 80 years ago today (1931)

(Saturday, October 24, 1931) — The new $60 million George Washington Bridge across the Hudson River, the world’s the longest main span connecting New York and New Jersey, was dedicated today (opened to traffic the following day, Oct. 25, 1931).
