(Thursday, January 20, 1972, 12:30 p.m. EST) — U.S. President Richard M. Nixon urged the Democratic Congress in an election-year State of the Union message today to rise above politics and enact his array of stalled legislative proposals in order to attain “a new prosperity without war.”
