Bush vows economic relief in State of the Union 20 years ago this hour (1992)
(Tuesday, January 28, 1992, 9:00 p.m. EST) — Staking his political fortunes on advice that the economy will right itself by summer, President Bush delivered a State of the Union Message tonight that offered modest proposals to ease the immediate pain of middle-class taxpayers and erase any impression that he is insensitive to America’s economic burdens.
