(Monday, November 16, 1942, part of The Holocaust during World War II) — On Anne Frank’s 134th day in hiding in a secret apartment behind her father’s business in German-occupied Amsterdam, Fritz Pfeffer joined the Franks and the Van Pelses today.

Pfeffer, the 53-year-old denist for Miep Gies, one of the helpers of the Jewish families in hiding, was the eighth and final resident of the Secret Annex.

Anne’s older sister, Margot, moved into a room with her parents, to allow Pfeffer to share a small room with Anne, 13, beginning what would become a torturous relationship for both.
