(Tuesday, January 30, 1973; during the Watergate scandal) — Former Nixon aides G. Gordon Liddy and James W. McCord Jr. were convicted today of conspiracy, burglary and wiretapping in the Watergate incident (five others had already entered guilty pleas). But the trial ended without any proof of a larger conspiracy.

Since no German Field Marshal had ever been taken prisoner, Hitler assumed that Paulus would fight on or take his own life.
