(Friday, February 26, 1993, 12:17:37 p.m. EST) — New York’s World Trade Center was attacked today when a truck bomb was detonated in a parking garage below the North Tower, killing six people and injuring more than 1,000 others. The 1,336 lb (606 kg) urea nitrate–hydrogen gas enhanced device was intended to knock the North Tower (Tower One) into the South Tower (Tower Two), bringing both towers down and killing thousands of people, but failed to do so.
