U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum dedicated in Washington 20 years ago today (1993)

(Thursday, April 22, 1993) — The United States Holocaust Memorial Museum (USHMM), the United States’ official memorial to the Holocaust, was dedicated today adjacent to the National Mall in Washington, D.C.

Dedication ceremonies included speeches by President Bill Clinton, Israeli President Chaim Herzog, Chairman Harvey Meyerhoff and Elie Wiesel (click here to watch video of ceremony).

(Friday, April 22, 1983) — Ex-Beatles Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr filmed the “Ballroom Dancing” scenes today at Elstree Studios in Borehamwood, England, for the movie Give My Regards To Broad Street. The film, directed by Peter Webb, was written and starred McCartney.
