Harding, the 29th President of the United States, shuddered and died suddenly tonight of congestive heart failure during a conversation with his wife in the Palace Hotel’s presidential suite in San Francisco, California. Harding, who was 57, would be succeeded as president by Vice President Calvin Coolidge four hours later.
