(Saturday, November 2, 1974) — George Harrison launched his 45-show “George Harrison & Friends North American Tour” tonight at Pacific Coliseum in Vancouver, British Columbia, in support of his new single “Dark Horse,” the title track of his new album, and Dark Horse Records. It was his first tour since the Beatles North American Tour of 1966 and the first North American tour by any former Beatle.

(Friday, November 2, 1984)The Killing Fields, a British drama film about an American journalist and his Cambodian adviser who fight to survive the country’s communist takeover, opened today at the Cinema 1 in New York City.

Directed by Roland Joffé, the film starred Sam Waterston, Haing S. Ngor, Craig T. Nelson, John Malkovich and Athol Fugard.

‘You Haven’t Done Nothin” by Stevie Wonder peaks at #1 in USA 40 years ago today (Nov 2 1974)

(Saturday, November 2, 1974)“You Haven’t Done Nothin'” by Stevie Wonder (featuring background vocals by The Jackson 5), aimed squarely at former President Richard Nixon, peaked at #1 on today’s Billboard Hot 100 singles chart for one week. The track was Wonder’s fourth of ten number one hits on the chart (1963-1986).

Senator Johnson re-elected in landslide in midterm elections 60 years ago today (Nov 2 1954)

(Tuesday, November 2, 1954) — Democratic leader Lyndon B. Johnson of Texas was elected to a second term in the Senate today over Republican Carlos G. Watson 84.6% to 14.9%.
