(Tuesday, November 7, 1944; part of The Holocaust during World War II) — About four days after their arrival at the Bergen-Belsen concentration camp in what is today Lower Saxony in northern Germany, 15-year-old diarist Anne Frank and her older sister, Margot’s stay in a tent camp came to a dramatic close when a violent storm swept many of the tents away. For hours, women stood in the hail and streaming rain, thin blankets over their shoulders before they were driven into kitchen tent to spend the night there.
