‘I Feel Fine’ by The Beatles peaks at #1 in USA 50 years ago today (Dec 26 1964)

(Saturday, December 26, 1964)“I Feel Fine” by The Beatles peaked today at #1 on Billboard’s Hot 100 singles chart for two consecutive weeks (Dec. 26, 1964, January 2, 1965).

It was the group’s sixth of a record 20 number one hits on the chart (1964-1970) and set the record for the most number-one singles in a calendar year (six) and the record for composing the most number one singles in a calendar year (seven, by John Lennon and Paul McCartney).
