(Thursday, September 2, 1965) — Jim Morrison, Ray Manzarek, and John Densmore joined Ray’s brothers Rick and Jim and a female bassist believed to be Patty Sullivan at World-Pacific Studios in Los Angeles, California, to record a six-song demo for The Doors, the band’s first known recording.

Guitarist Robby Krieger had not yet joined the band.

The surviving acetate includes the first songs Jim ever sang for Ray on Venice Beach in July 1965 — “Moonlight Drive,” “Summer’s Almost Gone,” and “My Eyes Have Seen You” — along with “End Of The Night,” “Hello, I Love You,” and a track called “Go Insane.”
