‘Lisztomania’ opens in New York City 40 years ago this hour (Oct 10 1975)

(Friday, October 10, 1975, noon EDT) — Lisztomania, a wild and imaginative send-up of the bawdy life of romantic composer/piano virtuoso Franz Liszt, opened today at the Ziegfeld Theatre in New York City.

Directed by Ken Russell, the film starred Roger Daltrey, Sara Kestelman, Paul Nicholas, Ringo Starr and Rick Wakeman.
