(Saturday, October 28, 1995, 10:26 p.m. EDT) — The Atlanta Braves won the 1995 World Series tonight, beating the Cleveland Indians 1-0 at Atlanta-Fulton County Stadium in Atlanta, Georgia, in the sixth and deciding game.

It was the third of three World Series title for the Braves (1914-1995).

VP Dick Cheney’s chief adviser charged with lying in ‘Plame affair’ 10 years ago today (Oct 28 2005)

(Friday, October 28, 2005) — Vice President Dick Cheney’s chief adviser, I. Lewis “Scooter” Libby, was indicted on five charges today in the “CIA leak scandal” (also known as the “Plame affair”) and resigned from his White House position.

Libby would be convicted and sentenced to 30 months in prison. President George W. Bush would commute his sentence.
