(Tuesday, June 7, 1966) — Actor Ronald Reagan won the Republican nomination for the governorship of California today by rolling to an easy victory over George Christopher, a former Mayor of San Francisco, and three other rivals in the state’s primary election.

Reagan will face Democratic incumbent Governor Edmund G. “Pat” Brown in the general election.
