(Monday, June 27, 1966, 1:45 p.m. AKST) — Following their Summer 1966 Germany Mini-Tour, The Beatles flew from Hamburg (click here to watch their departure at 3:56) to London Airport today to catch a connect flight to Japan to begin their Summer 1966 Asia Mini-Tour, but a decidedly unscheduled typhoon rerouted them to Alaska, where they spend the night at the Westwood Hotel in Anchorage.

(Monday, June 27, 1966, 4:00-4:30 p.m. EDT) — Dark Shadows, a gothic soap opera having to do with mysterious and supernatural goings-on in Collinsport, Maine, premiered today on ABC-TV.
The series became hugely popular when vampire Barnabas Collins (played by Jonathan Frid) appeared a year into its run.
