(Wednesday, August 31, 1966)The Battle of Algiers, a Italian-Algerian historical war film based on events during the Algerian War (1954–62) against the French government in North Africa, premiered today at the Venice Film Festival.

Directed by Gillo Pontecorvo, the film starred Jean Martin, Saadi Yacef, Brahim Haggiag and Tommaso Neri.
