(Friday, April 11, 1947, 8:45 p.m. EST)Monsieur Verdoux, a black comedy film directed by and starring Charles Chaplin, who plays a bigamist wife killer inspired by serial killer Henri Désiré Landru, premiered tonight at Broadway Theatre located in midtown Manhattan.

The film also starred Martha Raye, William Frawley, Marilyn Nash and Isobel Elsom.
