(Tuesday, April 25, 1967, 7:00 p.m.-3:45 a.m. BST) — Just four days after completing their eighth studio album Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band, which Rolling Stone magazine would later rank number one in its list of the “500 Greatest Albums of All Time,” The Beatles convened tonight at EMI Studio 3 in London to begin work on their next film and record project, recording three takes of the backing track of the title track “Magical Mystery Tour.”
