(Tuesday, December 5, 1967, 8:16 p.m. GMT) — John Lennon and George Harrison of The Beatles hosted a launch party and fashion show tonight for the Apple Boutique, a retail store located at 94 Baker Street in London, due to open to the public on Dec. 7, 1967.

Lennon and Harrison were the only Beatles to attend the launch as Paul McCartney was on holiday in Scotland and Ringo Starr was filming his role in the film Candy in Italy.

Because of shoplifting and poor management, the store would close on July 30, 1968, after less than eight months of operation.
