(Saturday, December 28, 1957, 9:00-10:00 p.m. EST) — Buddy Holly and the Crickets (drummer Jerry Allison, bassist Joe B. Mauldin) made their first television appearance as a three-piece band tonight on the Arthur Murray Party television series on NBC, performing “Peggy Sue.”

Rhythm guitarist Niki Sullivan had recently dropped out the group after a little more than one year to resume his education.
