(Saturday, January 13, 1968, 11:00 a.m.-8:00 or 10:00 p.m. IST) — George Harrison of The Beatles, who had arrived in India five days ago to continue recording the soundtrack for the film Wonderwall, today recorded the instrumental backing track to “The Inner Light” at EMI Studio in Bombay.

The song was the first Harrison composition to be issued on a Beatles single (as the B-side to “Lady Madonna”) and is the only Beatles studio recording to be made outside Europe.

Harrison would return to London on Tuesday, Jan. 16, 1968.
