(Monday, February 19, 1968) — The television rock group The Monkees began filming Head, a satirical musical adventure feature film written by Jack Nicholson and Bob Rafelson, directed by Rafelson, today at various locations in the Los Angeles area.

Shooting was originally scheduled to begin Feb. 15, 1968, but was delayed after three band members (Dolenz, Jones and Nesmith) staged a one-day walkout when the group learned that they would not be allowed to direct themselves or to receive screenwriting credit.

Principal photography would continue through May 17, 1968.
