(Sunday, January 29, 1989, 6:30 p.m. EDT in New York)Shining Time Station, an American children’s television series, debuted today on New York City’s PBS station WNET.

Jointly created by British television producer Britt Allcroft and American television producer Rick Siggelkow, the series starred former Beatle Ringo Starr, Didi Conn, Leonard Jackson, Nicole Leach, Jason Woliner Brian O’Connor and Jonathan Freeman.

The series incorporated sequences from the British television show Thomas & Friends, which was in turn based on a series of books that had been written by the Reverend Wilbert Awdry.
