(Saturday, March 1, 1969; approximately 11:00 p.m. EST) — Jim Morrison, lead singer of The Doors, attempted to spark a riot during a concert tonight at the Dinner Key Auditorium in Miami, packed with 12,000 people, in part by screaming “You wanna see my cock?” and other obscenities.

Morrison failed to spark a riot, but six warrants for his arrest were issued by the Dade County Police department four days later for indecent exposure, among other things.

Consequently, many of the Doors’ scheduled concerts were canceled (they did not perform in public again until June 14, 1969).

Morrison would be convicted of indecent exposure and profanity by a six-person jury in Miami in 1970, and sentenced to six months in prison. He remained free on a $50,000 bond while the conviction was appealed.

Morrison’s death in 1971 made the appeal a moot point. He was pardoned by Florida Governor Charlie Crist in 2010.

All the other members of The Doors later denied the allegation that Morrison exposed himself on stage that night.
