(Tuesday, March 11, 1969) — Paul McCartney and George Harrison of The Beatles produced Jackie Lomax’s second single for Apple tonight at Apple’s basement studio in the band’s Savile Row headquarters in London, with McCartney playing drums/playing guitar parts and Harrison on guitar on a cover version of The Coasters’ “Thumbin’ A Ride.”

“Going Back To Liverpool,” an original Lomax composition, was recorded on or around this evening for the B-side with McCartney on drums and Harrison co-producing.

In the end, a new song – titled “New Day” – was eventually released as the A-side, making “Thumbin’ A Ride” the b-side.

“Going Back To Liverpool” was eventually released as a bonus track on a 1991 reissue of the album Is This What You Want?
