(Friday, April 11, 1969) — The single “Get Back”/“Don’t Let Me Down” by The Beatles with Billy Preston was released today in the UK (May 5, 1969, in the U.S.).

It was the Beatles’ only single that credited another artist at their request.

Although the official release date was today, many stores didn’t receive copies until several days later, as Paul McCartney had ordered a remix on Apr. 7, 1969. He had been unhappy with the earlier mix after hearing it played on BBC Radio 1 by Alan Freeman and John Peel the previous day.
