(Tuesday, May 13, 1969) — A cross-country trip to sell drugs puts two hippie bikers on a collision course with small-town prejudices in Easy Rider, an American independent road drama film that debuted today at the Cannes Film Festival (the film would open in New York City on July 14, 1969).

Directed by Dennis Hopper, the film starred Peter Fonda, Hopper and Jack Nicholson.
