‘Missing’ opens in U.S. 30 years ago today (1982)

(Friday, February 12, 1982)Missing, a drama film based on the true story of American journalist Charles Horman, who disappeared in the bloody aftermath of the US-backed Chilean coup of 1973 that deposed leftist President Salvador Allende, opened today in U.S. theaters, including the Beekman Theater in New York.

Directed by Costa Gavras, the film starred Jack Lemmon, Sissy Spacek, Melanie Mayron, John Shea, Charles Cioffi and Janice Rule.
