‘Finding Nemo’ opens in the U.S., Canada 10 years ago today (2003)

(Thursday, May 30, 2003)Finding Nemo, a computer-animated comedy-drama adventure family film about a timid clownfish that sets out on a journey to bring his son home after he’s captured in the Great Barrier Reef and taken to Sydney, premiered today in the U.S. and Canada.

Directed by Andrew Stanton, the film stars Albert Brooks, Ellen DeGeneres and Alexander Gould.

U.S. forces secure Aleutian island of Attu from Japanese forces 70 years ago today (1943)

It was the only land battle of World War II fought on territory that was part of the incorporated territory of the U.S.
