‘Mrs. Doubtfire’ opens in U.S. theaters 20 years ago today (1993)

(Wednesday, November 24, 1993)Mrs. Doubtfire, a comedy film about a divorced actor who disguises himself as a female housekeeper to spend time with his children held in custody by his former wife, opened today in U.S. theaters.

Directed by Chris Columbus, the film starred Robin Williams, Sally Field, Lisa Jakub, Matthew Lawrence, Mara Wilson, Pierce Brosnan and Harvey Fierstein.
