(Wednesday, March 23, 1994, 8:49 p.m. GMT)Aeroflot Flight 593, an Airbus A310, crashed in Siberia with the loss of all 75 people on board. It turned out the teenage son of a pilot who was allowed to sit at the controls accidentally disengaged the autopilot, causing the jetliner to plunge to the ground.

The EP featured four songs that had previously been released by Vee-Jay on the Introducing… The Beatles album and did not chart.

(Monday, March 23, 1964) — John Lennon’s first book, In His Own Write, was published today in Britain by Jonathan Cape. The 78-page hardback book sold for nine shillings and sixpence, and contained 31 stories, numerous pen drawings by Lennon, and an introduction by fellow Beatle, Paul McCartney (the book was published in the U.S. on Apr. 27, 1964).
