‘Shampoo’ opens in New York City 40 years ago today (Feb 11 1975)

(Tuesday, February 11, 1975)Shampoo, a satirical romantic comedy-drama film about a hairdresser who expresses his fear of commitment by seducing his female clients, opened today at the Coronet in New York City.

Directed by Hal Ashby, the film starred Warren Beatty, Julie Christie, Goldie Hawn, Lee Grant, Jack Warden and Tony Bill.

Roosevelt, British Prime Minister Winston Churchill and Soviet leader Josef Stalin today signed the Yalta Agreement, in which Stalin agreed to declare war against Imperial Japan following Nazi Germany’s capitulation.
