‘Rebel Without a Cause’ opens in New York City 60 years ago this hour (Oct 26 1955)

(Wednesday, October 26, 1955, 9:30 a.m. EST)Rebel Without a Cause, a drama film about an alienated teenager who tries to handle life’s troubles and an apron-wearing dad, opened this morning at the Astor in New York City.

Directed by Nicholas Ray, the film starred James Dean (who had died in a car crash Sept. 30, 1955), Natalie Wood and Sal Mineo.
