(Saturday, May 15, 1971) — Former Beatle John Lennon and his wife Yoko Ono appeared today at the Cannes Film Festival in France, where the couple was promoting their avant-garde films Apotheosis and Fly.

The Lennon-Ono films were screened at the “Filmmaker’s Fortnight Festival,” an independent, non-competitive showcase free from censorship and the diplomatic considerations that ran concurrently with the Cannes Film Festival.

The Lennons were interviewed today by film director and critic Pal Bang-Hansen for the Norwegian film review TV program Filmmagasinet.

They were also captured on camera for an avant-garde style film made by French director Gerard Courant that was not completed until 1977.
