(Wednesday, April 3, 1963, 8:30-9:45 p.m. BST) — The Beatles recorded three songs tonight for the BBC Light Programme Easy Beat at Playhouse Theatre, London.

The rock music band from Liverpool performed “Please Please Me,” “Misery” and their forthcoming third single “From Me To You” in front of a studio audience for broadcast on Apr. 7, 1963, from 10:31 to 11:30 a.m.

John Lennon and Paul McCartney also took part in a record review with fellow guests Laura Lee and Clare O’Rourke, casting judgment on new releases by Bert Weedon, Cleo Laine, The Vernons Girls, and former tour partner Tommy Roe.

The group arrived at the Playhouse Theatre at 5:30 p.m. for a rehearsal, and the show was recorded from 8:30-9:45 p.m. BST.
