(Tuesday, July 30, 1963, 2:30 p.m. British Summer Time) — The Beatles were interviewed today by Phil Tate at Playhouse Theatre in London for the Aug. 30, 1963, edition of the BBC Light Programme Non Stop Pop.

Although much of this day was spent at Abbey Road recording songs for their second album, The Beatles visited London’s Playhouse Theatre in the afternoon to record contributions to two BBC radio shows.

The first was this interview with Tate, recorded just after The Beatles arrived at the theatre, and was broadcast from 5:00 p.m. BST on Friday, Aug. 30.
