(Friday, May 31, 1963) — John Lennon and Paul McCartney of The Beatles recorded a demo of their composition “Bad To Me” today for Billy J. Kramer with The Dakotas, who would record it at EMI Studios in London on June 27, 1963.

The exact circumstances of the recording are not known, but The Beatles performed two shows tonight at Odeon Cinema, High Street, Southend-on-Sea, Essex.

In late interviews, John Lennon said that he wrote it for Billy J. Kramer with The Dakotas while on holiday in Spain between April 28 and May 9, 1963. However, in a 1964 interview, he said that he and Paul McCartney wrote it in the back of a van, declaring McCartney a contributor.
