(Sunday, September 21, 2003, 8 p.m. EDT) — Everybody Loves Raymond, a sitcom based on the real-life experiences of Ray Romano, captured top honors tonight at the 55th Primetime Emmy Awards, winning four Emmys, including Outstanding Comedy Series.

The West Wing, a drama set primarily in the West Wing of the White House, was hailed as the Outstanding Drama Series.

Tonight’s ceremonies at the Shrine Auditorium, Los Angeles, California, were hosted by eleven performers.
