‘She Loves You’ by The Beatles peaks at #1 in USA 60 years ago #OnThisDay #OTD (Mar 21 1964)

(Saturday, March 21, 1964) — “She Loves You” by The Beatles peaked at #2 on today’s Billboard Hot 100 singles chart for two weeks (March 21/28, 1964).

It was the group’s second of a record (that still stands 60 years later) 20 number one hits on the chart (1964-1970).

It remains the band’s best-selling single in the United Kingdom and was the top-selling single of the 1960s there by any artist.

In November 2004, Rolling Stone ranked “She Loves You” number 64 on their list of the “500 Greatest Songs of All Time.”
