(Sunday, March 11, 1984, 5-6:30 p.m. EST) — Former Vice President Walter Mondale’s old-line Democratic Party values and Sen. Gary Hart’s “new ideas” collided today in Atlanta in a final, combative face-to-face meeting of the leading candidates before the crucial “Super Tuesday” voting.

“When I hear your new ideas, I keep being reminded of that ad — ‘Where’s the beff?'” Mondale taunted the Colorado senator after he had explained his program for economic recovery.
