Beatle Ringo Starr weds Maureen Cox 50 years ago today (Feb 11 1965)

(Thursday, February 11, 1965) — Drummer Ringo Starr of The Beatles married 18-year-old Maureen Cox, a hairdresser from Starr’s hometown of Liverpool, England, today at the Caxton Hall Register Office in London.

The guests included fellow Beatles John Lennon and George Harrison, and manager Brian Epstein was the best man. Paul McCartney was on holiday in Portugal at the time, so was unable to attend.

Starr was the second Beatle to wed (Lennon being first in Aug. 1962), leaving McCartney and Harrison as the only bachelors of the group.
