(Wednesday, November 10, 1971, 1:00 p.m. EST)200 Motels, an American-British surreal musical film about life on the road with the band Mothers of Invention, opened today at the Plaza Theater on 58th Street east of Madison Avenue in New York City.

The movie had already opened on Oct. 27, 1971, at Boston’s Savoy Theatre and had it’s official world premiere two days later (Oct. 29, 1971) at Doheny Plaza Theater in Beverly Hills, California.

Written and directed by Frank Zappa and Tony Palmer, and featuring music by Zappa, the film stars Zappa as himself, The Mothers of Invention, Theodore Bikel, former Beatle Ringo Starr and Keith Moon.
