(Thursday, June 11, 1936, 11:41 p.m. EDT) — Governor Alf Landon
of Kansas was nominated president today at the 1936 Republican National Convention meeting at Public Auditorium in Cleveland.

Landon won on the first ballot, defeating Senator William Borah of Idaho 984 to 19 votes. The delegates would choose the convention’s vice presidential nominee the following day.
