(Friday, July 27, 1917; during World War I)A Soldier’s Declaration, an anti-war letter by English poet, writer and soldier Siegfried Sassoon, currently undergoing treatment at Craiglockhart War Hospital near Edinburg for shell shock, was published today in the Bradford Pioneer newspaper.

Written by Sassoon on June 15, 1917, the declaration would be read to the British House of Commons on July 30, 1917, and was then printed in The Times newspaper the following day.
