(Wednesday, November 15, 1967; during the Vietnam War, part of the Indochina Wars and the Cold War) — General William Westmoreland, commander of U.S. forces in the Vietnam War, told reporters today at Andrews Air Force Base that he is “very, very encouraged” by the military situation in Vietnam.

Westmoreland arrived today in Washington from Saigon via Honolulu for a high level review of the war with President Lyndon Johnson.
