Hepburn, Fonda, ‘Chariots Of Fire’ tops at Oscars 30 years ago tonight (1982)

(Monday, March 29, 1982)Chariots of Fire was named Best Picture of 1981 tonight at the 54th Academy Awards, hosted by Johnny Carson at the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion in Los Angeles.

Henry Fonda and Katharine Hepburn won Oscars for their co-starring roles as husband and wife in On Golden Pond.

Warren Beatty won Best Director for Reds.
