Ringo Starr tapes appearance on ‘Late Night with David Letterman’ 20 years ago this hour (1992)

(Thursday, April 2, 1992) — Ex-Beatle Ringo Starr taped an appearance today for the comedy talk show Late Night with David Letterman at NBC Studio 6A at the RCA (later GE) Building at 30 Rockefeller Plaza in New York City to promote his upcoming album and tour. The taping would air the following day.

(Monday, April 1, 2002, 8 p.m. PST) — Ex-Beatle Paul McCartney launched his 19-city Driving USA Tour tonight before a sellout crowd of 15,000 at Oakland Arena in Oakland, California. It was McCartney’s first concert tour in eight years and since the deaths of first wife, Linda McCartney, and fellow ex-Beatle George Harrison.
