(Tuesday, September 14, 1993) -- Flanked by three predecessors at the White House in Washington, U.S. President Bill Clinton today signed side deals to a three-nation free trade agreement and opened a high-profile campaign to promote the much criticized accord.
"It's a good deal and we ought to take it," Clinton said at a ceremony to promote the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA).
Former presidents George Bush, Jimmy Carter and Gerald Ford enthusiastically joined the pomp and ceremony.
